On The Golf Course

I love the Master’s as much as the next guy. The pristine golf course in HD perfection on my hubby’s 60 inch screen makes me drool with envy.  I did get the chance to see a Wednesday practice round several years ago and I’ll never forget the feeling of walking the grounds.

This year, the drama on the screen was a bit personal.  Like all golf fans, my heart has gone out to the Mickelson family and the health challenges facing them.  Like Amy, I also went through a difficult recovery from cancer and had many days when I couldn’t get out of bed.

I know from personal experience the joy she must have had to be there for Phil for his thrilling victory. I am sure there were days in the past year when she couldn’t get out of bed herself.  How blessed and fortunate she was to be well enough to be there.  It is crazy that the treatment for the disease is more debilitating than the disease itself.  But it is true.

In my story, I was able to attend my son’s wedding and my daughter’s swearing in ceremony as a California Attorney. If either of those two events had happened at the wrong time, I would have missed them.  I am really happy for all of the Mickelsons but especially for Amy and Mary.  It is remarkable that they both were well enough to be there.
